Graduation, End & Beginning

January 5th, 2011,  marked the end of the Blue Cliff Experience for a few of our students. Our programs lengths vary from eight to eighteen months, so there is always a graduation celebration going on!

Blue Cliff is proud to introduce our graduates to the professional world of Cosmetology, Esthetics, and Education.

Our graduate from our Instructor Training Program was Ms. Pam Andrews, we are certain that she will be an excellent educator in the field of cosmetology.


Our Esthetics graduates; Krista Hendrix (Valedictorian), Amanda Lowe (Summa Cum Laude), Sarah Brown, Mary Green, Holly Hilderbrand, Clarissa Humphrey, Jennifer Rick; are certain to light the skin care and make-up industries on fire.

The Cosmetology graduates; Evelyn Williams (Valedictorian), Deanna Jordan (Valedictorian), Brittany Blocker, Misti Corley, Alta Morton, and Juanita Pettway; had style and grace to spare, hopefully you will be fortunate enough to sit in one of their stylist chairs very soon.

They shined with originality and style. They worked hard to apply all of the information they learned in their first four weeks in Boot Camp to the mannequin. They also applied some God given talent and the results were phenomenal.

Our winners included Mirah Carpenter, with her flawlessly applied green extensions and the addition of a peacock feather.

Jaime Godwin rocked our socks off with a cut that had senior students (who were actually peaking at the show) exclaim, “Thats’ an awesome cut!”.

Jenna Rameris added purple extensions to super straight twists for a club ready look to die for. Amanda Parker skillfully twisted and sculpted a butterfly to compliment  a divine evening look.

Benefits of Exfoliants, Toners, and Moisturizers

Exfoliants Benefits:

Removing dead epidermal cells benefits the skin in many ways:

  • Skin texture is smoother and softer.

Exfoliation is beneficial for the following conditions:

Esthetics, It’s More Than Just Make-Up

Hopefully we have peaked your interest about the limitless possibilities of a career as an Esthetician. We can assure you, it’s not just spa services. You can work in dermatologists offices, cruise ships, resorts, or even for a plastic surgeon. Here is a sample what’s going on in class courtesy of our Esthetics students.

Contraindications for skin treatments.

1) Use of Accutane or any skin-thinning or exfoliating drug, including Retin-A, Renova, Tazorac, Differin, and so on.  Avoid waxing, any exfoliation or peeling treatment, or stimulating treatments.
2) Pregnancy- The client should not have any electrical treatments, or any questionable treatment, without her physician’s written permission.  Some pregnant clients also experience sensitivities from waxing.
3) Metal bones pins or plates in the body.  Avoid all electrical treatments.
4) Pacemakers of heart irregularities.  Avoid all electrical treatments.
5) Allergies.  Any allergic substances listed should be strictly avoided.  Clients with multipule allergies should use frangrance free products designed for sensitive skin.
6) Seizures or epilepsy.  Avoid all electrical and light treatments.
7) Use of oral steriods like prednisone.  Avoid any stimulating or exfoliating treatment, or waxing.
8 ) Autoimmune diseases such as lupus.  Avoid and harsh or stimulating treatments.
9) Diabetes.  Be aware the due to their poor blood circultaion, many diabetic heal very slowly and may not readily feel pain, especially in the feet.  If you are in doubt, get approval from the client’s physician before treatment.
10) Blood thinners.  No extraction or waxing.

Boot Camp and Camp Aegis

Cosmetology’s Boot Camp and Esthetics’s Camp Aegis day class graduated today. That means these students are eight weeks into their training and have learned the basics. Starting this Saturday they will be willing and able to assist clients with their skin care, hair, and beauty needs. So we would like to congratulate these students and we are eager to see the creativity that these individuals are certain to bestow on Blue Cliff and our clients.


Out of the Box Week

October 25th, 2010

Amanda Holmes, cosmetology day class, “As stylists we encourage our clients to step outside the box and try a new look, but how can we expect our clients to take that chance with us if we are not ready to do the same?” Our soon to be graduating cosmetology students proposed a theme week to take them “Out of the Box” and administration approved. The week, held Sept 13th to 17th included all sorts of themes; Monday was Rockstar Day, Tuesday Celebrity Look-a-like Day, Wednesday Decade Day, Thursday Grease Day, and Friday Hollywood Glamor Day.

Spring Starts

We are proud to announce that our new spring class will be starting April 19th. Our cosmetology classes have been filling up so fast and we are very pleased to announce that due to graduation we will be able to start a little sooner than projected! Wow talk about time flying! Our newest group of cosmetology students just finished their first eight weeks of basic training, also known as Boot Camp. Congratulations to this awesome group; Chelsea Avinger, Amanda Bolden, Linda Horn-Harris, Jelisa Henderson, Donyele Johnson, Jason Kirscherman, Ermise Marks, Zara Martino, Jasmine Palmer, Adrian Ross, Candice Shields and Jennifer Wellington! We are so excited about the creativity and enthusiasm that these individuals are sure to bring to our clinic area.

Congratulations!

Well, it has been busy around here since my last post. On February 19th, 2010 we celebrated the graduation of 18 students from all four programs. We want to congratulate our February 2010 graduates. Graduating our Instructor Training program Veronica Besson and Ivy Penn. Our Esthetics graduate was Wanda Archibald. Our Massage Therapy graduates were Kerri Chapman, Amanda Corey, Maurice Russell, Amber Torrence, and Angela Zinck. Our up and coming Cosmetologists are Carrie Bertram, Felicia Blackmon, Raven Falkner, Aschara Hall, Ashley Herring, Iisha Jones, Heather Parnell, Shamika Rodgers-Brown, Adrianne Williams, and Brittany Yelding. We want to send these individuals best wishes. We impatiently wait to hear their success stories!
